I just bought myself a Novation Nocturn, and unlike my last Novation purchase, I was able to get it doing exactly what I want it to do within only a couple days.

This handle Little thing (it's about the size of a DVD case) can fit in my laptop bag and lets me do all the fancy knob turning things I normally do live, without having to require my own personal keyboards present to work right.  Score.

Cool -- do the lights around the knobs sync with the software?

Is there somewhere you've posted what you run for hardware/software?

They do in the sense that 1/2 a knob turn will light up 1/2 the dots, but depending on the scaling of the particular parameter you're adjusting, that may not really be the same.

The first album and EP were written completely in Reason and mixed in Cubase. I build versions of the songs in Live that I perform with, with Reason running inside it, so that I have access to the original sounds for the parts I play on stage.

Inside Reason, I have each instrument and all its effects combined into a single unit with 4 assignable knobs, which is was I play around with on stage, in addition to actual performance of the parts. That's the part I need something like this for, for times I don't have my own keyboards and all their preset mappings.

The new material I've been working on uses a wider range of synths and programs, which could make it a lot harder when I go to plan out a live set. We'll see.
